Do we apply the day for a year in
prophecy every time a day is mentioned in the Bible? Of course not! We only
apply the day being symbolic of one literal year where a symbol is employed
in the prophecy.
In Daniel 7 we have symbolic beasts representing kingdoms. The time there
mentioned is surrounded with symbols. Daniel 9 was given in connection to
the visions seen several years earlier in chapter 8 which too had numerous
symbolic symbols. Revelation 10 - 13 are both surrounded with symbols.
This warrants us to apply the day for a year principal in all of these
cases.

The 1260 days
The time times and dividing of a time
The 42 months = all of which equal the 1260 years of papal rule.
The 70 weeks which announced the close of probation upon Israel as God’s
chosen people and Jerusalem as his chosen City.

The 2300 days this announced the date for the Investigative judgment to
begin.
The parable of the vineyard in Luke 13 had the symbol of the vineyard.
Once again all of these time prophecies are submersed in symbolism and this
is what warrants to apply a day being symbolic of one literal year.
We have no license to apply the principal where no symbol and where no
prophecy is present. That is why we do not apply the principal else where in
scripture.
An astute person may say, yes that all sounds reasonable David, but the
example you gave of Jesus’ message to Herod had no symbol in it.
But friend it did let’s look at it again.
A beast in Bible Prophecy represents a Kingdom.
The Lion in Daniel 7 represented
Babylon
The Bear = Medo-Persia
The Leopard = Greece
The terrible beast or dragon represented Rome

In the book of Genesis the Pharaoh had a dream of 7 fat cows and 7 lean
cows. These cows represented Egypt.

Now that we have these examples lets look at the words of Jesus again.
And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell
that fox,
Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures today and tomorrow, and the third
day I shall be perfected. Luke 13:32
The Fox represented Herod’s kingdom. Thus a symbol is used here as well.
The example in Jeremiah about the 70 years of captivity does not apply. It
is a literal event, given without symbolic language.
